Department of Botany, Siddharth University, Kapilvastu, U.P (India) has been established in 2015 and post-graduate teaching began in academic session of 2022-23. The department is booming since its foundation and focused in maintaining quality-based teaching and research in field of plant science.
Significance of the department:
The department has modified the syllabus of UG, PG and Ph.D. courses as per NEP-2020. Moreover, courses are structured as such that are efficient to provide academic as well as professional skill among the students. The department is progressively moving forward and one more faculty Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Verma, Associate Professor joined in present academic session.
Courses:
The department is running M. Sc. Botany and Ph. D Botany courses very efficiently as per the guidelines of the New Education Policy, NEP-2020. M.Sc. core course is very diversified with unique combination of traditional botany (Phycology, Bryology, Pteridology and vascular plants) along with new age of science and technology like Genomics, Proteomics, and Genetic Engineering. The department has total 25 seats in M.Sc. Botany (20 regular and 05 self-finance) and 14 seats in Ph.D. course.
Achievements:
1.Students of First year M.Sc. Botany successfully executed their research projects.
2.Several seminars have been organized for the students.
3.Students are regularly encouraged to participate in various extracurricular activities and one award in painting competition and one award in essay writing has been achieved at University level by M.Sc. botany students.
4.One faculty Dr. Kiran Gupta organized a webinar on “Strategy to crack competitive examination after post-graduation” in association with IFAS PUNE along-with other organizing team members.
5. One Faculty Dr. Ankita Srivastava has visited and delivered lecture in international conference in Poland.
6.One DST sponsored major research project has been awarded to the faculty, Dr. Ankita Srivastava.
7.The department has published many research articles and book chapters in reputed journals and books respectively.
Vision:
1.The visiting lectures of the experts will be organized.
2.The interdisciplinary workshops, conferences will be organized.
3.Departmental library will be proposed to ease the students for their learning outcomes.
4.Smart classes are proposed to augment teaching-learning outcomes.
5.Efforts are made by the department to get funded research projects.
6.This distinctive diversity will add a fresh perspective to both teaching and research, and is ideal for meeting both the academic and research needs of students, assuring the university's success in the future.
Board of Studies:
There are board of studies for UG/PG/Ph.D. courses has been approved including members of Siddharth University as well as affiliated colleges. These boards of studies efficiently set syllabus as per NEP-2020. Moreover, examinations have been successfully conducted through these boards.
Facilities:
The department is well structured and well equipped. There are facilities for smart classes. The faculties are available to students for 24X7. The department is enriched with all basic facilities for students. Special attention has been given to academically week students. The teaching-learning strategy is student friendly. Laboratory facilities is well organized.

Ever since the department of Botany started its journey, the department has been simultaneously and successfully performing the multiple roles of sparking knowledge, acquiring new capabilities and make students well versed academically as well as ethically. The Department has consistently had rapid growth, and its knowledgeable and committed faculty members are passionate about their work in the fields of academia and research, and they strive tirelessly to create an engaging and ideal learning environment. The growth of expertise in the department is commendable. In line with the department's mission, emphasis is placed on the holistic development of the students, which fosters a lifelong love of learning and a sense of obligation to have a positive impact on society.
The students are motivated to participate in paper presentation, workshops and seminars that are essential to maintaining proficiency. The department regularly organizes various professional development activities and grooms its students with the communication classes and personality development program. Sports, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities takes place at institute level and students participate in various intra-college, inter-college, inter-university fests/competitions. Cultural activities are also promoted at the departmental and university level.
