About the Department

Although the Geography as a discipline is being offered by the Siddharth University since its inception and is running successfully in affiliated colleges at both UG & PG level, the University Department owes its existence since August 2023. The Department have its BoS for PG & DRC for PhD Program.

2. B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) (to be started from the next session i.e. July 2024)

3. Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy)

The Geography Department stands with a vision to provide its students with learning experience of the highest quality that empowers both teachers & learners to conduct the vital research that produces valuable outcomes towards the benefit of mankind. Dedicated teaching, academic freedom and human approach being the pillars of the department provides ample scope for fertilization of diverse ideas, scholarly activities and quality publications. The department is committed to the advancement of geographical knowledge and serving our communities across the globe.

Mission:

Consistent development of the geographical knowledge and eco-sensible scholars being the soul mission of the department, works relentlessly towards accomplishing in continuum. The department manifests its existence by working towards understanding the human and natural interface through traditional scientific enquiry and by employing geospatial technologies. The academic exercises revolve around answering the fundamental significant geographical questions.

Progress so far:

The department with its existence of less than six months as of now, established in August 2023 is offering Post Graduate Degree in Geography. As the environmental issues are closely related to the geography discipline, our teachers are also engaged in co-curricular teaching learning procedures at the other departments of the University.

EDUSAT is very prestigious programme offered by Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Indian Space Research Institute (IRSO) is delivered at the Department.

The Siddharth University, Kapilvastu lies in the middle of Terai- one of the unique landscapes associated with the outer margins of the foothills of the Himalayas. Arial photographs and satellite images shows the dominance of shallow water bodies designating this area a peculiar topography. A recent visit to the wetland area opens our scope towards the academic enquiry of this ecosystem. The department is planning to adopt this geographical entity for academic enquiry. The area with unique ecosystem acts as a breeding ground for the trans-disciplinary academic exercises as it houses diverse flora, fauna, edaphic &climatic condition, toppled with unique physiography and offering diverse subsistence to the locals. The works can be extended beyond the Indian Territory too.
